General Notes
- Safeguarding training: you are strongly urged to do the mandatory 2 hours training this year and get it out of the way for five years!
The first opportunity is on March 15th, 7.30 pm, in Coronation Hall, Boroughbridge.
All Leaders (11 in total) whose review date falls in 2011 must do the training, according to Scout Association rules.
In principle, it’s just like First Response except that first aid re-training is needed every three years; whereas, with Safeguarding, it’s every five years.
By the way, there is no reason why some of the older Young Leaders shouldn’t attend the course; and Helpers/parents would be most welcome! - Adult Leader Training: several Leaders need to press on and complete their training.
The County training calendar for 2011, to be found on the County web site, contains a host of courses, all free to Ripon & District Leaders.
PLEASE sign up for the training you need and let’s have many more Wood Badges this year! - It’s not a secret that we are very short of Leaders (adults in uniform as opposed to parent helpers) at present, a problem not confined to Ripon District.
Currently the problem is particularly acute in one or two Groups.
Can we ALL do our best, please, to recruit adults into Scouting and point them in directions where there is the greatest need? - Census returns: I assume that all Census returns have been submitted as I have not heard to the contrary from Gillian, our District Secretary. Please remember to submit all the other information required along with the details of individual members; and be prepared to pay up in March!
